Shape Management Profiles
Stephen Anderson, Chairman and CEO. Mr. Anderson obtained his BSEE from the University of Minnesota in 1970 before joining Sperry Univacs Defense Systems Division to develop computer aided software design applications. Steve brought his programming skills into broader application, selling building automation systems for Honeywell, computer graphics display equipment for Tektronix, and computer aided design systems for Computervision. While with Tektronix, Anderson sold the worlds first desktop computer with graphic display capabilities to a variety of companies and institutions. One of the early adaptors of the new technology was Dr. Richard Lillehei at the University of Minnesota. This experience led to the founding of Medical Graphics Corporation in 1978. After two rounds of angel investment, the company went public in 1981. Steve directed the development of, and patents for, the industrys first breath-by-breath cardiopulmonary exercise testing system, which became the industry standard for such systems until today. In the process, Anderson became familiar with all of the leading physicians in the field of cardiopulmonary testing worldwide. With Dr. MacCarter, Anderson developed and filed various patents describing the Shape Medical Technology.
Clarence Johnson, President and Chief Operating Officer. Mr. Johnson holds a Master of Science degree in microbiology (biochemistry) from the University of Minnesota. He is formerly president & chief executive officer of Bioenergy, Inc., an early stage pharmaceutical/nutrceutical company with proprietary core technology targeting cardiovascular and skeletal muscle medical applications. Since 1984, Mr. Johnson has worked with emerging and growth stage biotechnology and med-tech companies in the areas of corporate finance and operations management. Mr. Johnson holds several patents and has published extensively in medical and lay publications.
